Dr Jonathan Lacey

BA (Hons) Humanistic Counselling
PG Cert Oxford Psychodynamic Counselling

Personal & work related counselling service.

Hello. I’m Jonathan Lacey, and you are very welcome to my website. The fact you’re here means you’ve already taken a first very important step towards greater mental wellbeing; looking for someone to talk to.

But why me?

After 20 years as an NHS Doctor, I took the big decision to retrain as a counsellor and psychotherapist – having come to feel that mental wellbeing was undervalued and not well enough supported, in our increasingly challenging and stressful modern world.

For the past five years, I’ve offered a fully confidential phone-based counselling and therapy service, which gives clients total freedom to discuss anything that might be troubling them.

Depending on what’s going on in your world, our focus might be on issues in your personal life or at work (particularly if you’re employed within the NHS).

Whatever brought you here today, I warmly encourage you to take the next step – which is to contact me to arrange an initial assessment session.

That will be when we can discuss your situation in detail, and explore together how the counselling and support I offer could help you cope better with the challenges you’re facing.

It’s a chance for you to ask any questions you have about counselling and psychotherapy, too. And if you’re ready to go ahead, we’ll talk about the practicalities, when your sessions will be, and how many you’re likely to need.

If you are ready to begin the work, please contact me.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered

Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice.

The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they’ve demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration.

Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
